It's a beautiful day. Nice, sunny, warm...and I'm stuck inside doing stats work. I also have no pairs of shorts except the ones I wore for softball and my boxers, despite the fact I did bring tank tops here. My reasoning was that it'll be too cold for shorts, and even if it did get warmer I can live on pants.

Dumbass.

Oh well, I got to spend some time outside making up some work for drawing class since my final portfolio is due on Wednesday. I hate doing landscape drawings, always did since drawing in 10th grade and the watercolor paintings in 11th. I hate drawing trees, and shrubs, and grass, and anything like that. It's just not my thing. But, alas, I must venture forth and complete this assignment if I wish to recieve an A on my portfolio and my sketchbook.

I also found out that while I'm almost done with the front of my Skully sweater, I need another set of 10 1/2 needles to keep going, and I left all of them at home. I refuse to buy another pair though, because I've already got about 10 of them. So, looks like I'm working on my super-secret project instead. Yes, think I forgot about that, didja? Well, I didn't!

Excuse me now while I work on the one branch of mathematics that I hate, and weep over the fact that I could be playing Halo or something right now instead.

(P.S. Speaking of math, I'm now an official Computer Science major with a concentration in the Standard/Technical field. YAAAY! :D )

Fuck the Earth Day

Yesterday on the Daily Show, Jon Stewart declared today to be "Fuck the Earth Day," in retaliation for the many tornadoes, earthquakes, typhoons (Australia), and other random things nature threw at us recently. According to him, today is the day where we drive our 1/2 mpg hummervees and spray aeresol cans at baby seals. While I do not have a hummer with bad mileage, aeresol cans, or access to baby seals, I'm doing my part by wasting electricity by having more lights and stuff on than necessary in my dorm. Yeah, I'm dealin' BIG damage here! ;)

Happy Fuck the Earth Day everyone!

(P.S. I don't hate the earth...I do recycle stuff.)

Silent WOW!

So this weekend I spent Friday night and most of Sunday working at JCPenney, no problem. Saturday I mostly did Statistics work (boo...), but that evening Robert and I went to the movies to see this:
Afterwards he and I both agreed on one thing: BEST VIDEO GAME FILM EVER!

Now, I'll admit I haven't played Silent Hill (yet...), but still, that doesn't give me the right to form an opinion on it, right? It was way better than the Tomb Raider films, Final Fantasy, Doom (haven't seen, but that's what Robert said), and possibly any other game film that exists. I'm going to count Stay Alive in there, too, even though it technically wasn't based off a game. :P

Now, the movie and the game are supposed to be wicked scary, but the movie wasn't scary to me at all. The only part that made me jump was when the main character, Rose, walked into a garbage can because it made a loud noise. The movie didn't rely on the typical loud noises to make people jump (which was good in my opinion), but it (tried) to use just the visuals and things like that to scare. Despite the fact there was a creepy little girl in it (I hate creepy little girls in movies...which is why the Ring scared the hell outta me), I wasn't scared at all. I was more mesmerized by how cool the monsters and the special effects were. I even thought the girl was really cool. The ending did make me go "Uh...", but other than that, awesome film.

So, Silent Hill ranks as the top video game film on my list, and I wouldn't mind seeing it again or buying it when it comes out. That opinion might change when I see Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (comes out tomorrow, but won't see it until after finals), or the Halo movie (can't wait!)

And I really can't wait to play the Silent Hill games. >:D

(Oh, and I'm not sure if you people know how to comment with the new template, but if you click the number by the post title, it'll take you to the comment page. :) )

Love, life, and kittens

Okay, I've just seen in a few places people talking about their lack of love-lives, and these people are college-age and young. So people, here's some advice posted in the comments section of a blog. One from someone else, the second one by me:

"You guys are 18 years old! Not time to be worrying that you're an old maid and won't find a guy to have kids with! ... And I doubt that most guys are into thinking about those things at this time either. I say, just be aware that you're interested in finding someone (so you don't miss it when it comes!) but have your main focus on having fun, because that is SO much more attractive than the "trying-to-fill-a-void" point of view about life. That's what I have faith in."

"Guys, enjoy the single-life, and don't worry about finding "Mr. Right." Sure, dating can be fun, and so can relationships, but you've got about 60+ more years of life (avg for women is in the 70s), so you've got a TON of time to find the one you want to spend the rest of your life with. You don't need a man to fill a void in your life. You need to be whole on your own first before you can be with someone else. ------'s right; being someone who wants to just have fun is WAY more attractive than someone who feels they need someone to complete them. Take this as advice from a person who's been single for months now and loving it. :)"

And my favorite advice by yours truly:

"PS. You don't technically really need a man to have kids. Two ideas: Modern Science and Adoption.

Or get a kitten."

Yeah, so my basic point is, what's the hurry? There's so much time in our lives, why do we have to worry about looking around for someone to "complete us?" No one can complete us except ourselves. If you're not happy being a single person, you're not going to be happy being in a relationship. Yes, there will be times you may feel lonely because you know people who are in a relationship, it's unavoidable. But don't think being in one is going to change that. You can feel lonely in a relationship you know.

Now, I'm not saying that dating or being in a relationship is dumb, or that I'm against those who are in one right now. I'm completely open for dating or being in a relationship, and I say kudos to those who are able to be in one and be happy. However, if it doesn't happen to me anytime soon, so be it. I'm happy just being by myself. I've got friends, hobbies, college, and preparing for a career, all of which keeps me busy and satisfied. If a guy asks me out tomorrow, cool. If not, I'm not going to stress about it, but just keep on doing what I do best; being myself and being happy.

Love,
Chicky (who wants a kitten, but has a lovely beta fish and an adorable doggy instead.)

My blog is getting a facelift. Stay tuned. :)

EDIT: Okay, I got the template from a free site, and just added the top image that I made in Photoshop. The picture is the cover of a WWII songbook titled "Pick Up Your Knitting." Thought it was cool. I want to change any of the blue link text to pink, but I'm having a hard time finding it in the template file. Oh well, I might just leave it as is.

Oh, and the more observant will notice a change in the title. I figured that this blog also includes a lot of my knitting works, so I included needles in my arsenal. My imagination is still my best weapon, though.

Tell me what you think!

Just some random updates.

I just got back from my first day of working at JCPenney. I worked about 4 hours, and it wasn't too bad. I learned a lot, talk to my "buddy" (person who helps me train) about Oneonta and other things, and just had a good time. My back kind of hurt afterwards because I wasn't used to standing for hours on end, but other than that, it went well.

Other random updates:

1.) Went to see Billy Joel in Syracuse as a B-Day present from Man. OMGSOFUCKINGAWESOME!!!! :D Yeah, if there is ever one concert anyone should see, it's his.

2.) The Residence Life and Housing office at Oneonta State can just burn in hell. Seriously.

We have to go online and put ourselves into open spots in rooms with people we don't know anything about. At least when we were freshman we were roomed with people with the same cleaning and sleeping habits. This time, people like me who know no one to room with (one friend is living in a double, two are leaving, and the other is a guy), are stuck with blindly choosing a room and hoping for the best. But it has just been problem-filled for me with it though:

First dorm: A quad in the hall my friend is in right now. My roommate would be a senior, and the quadmates juniors. I signed up last night for this room, and today I got an IM from my roommate. She asked if I could move to a different room, because someone they knew was transferring to our school and was going to live with them. Okay, no problem, I take a room down the hall.

Second dorm: All current sofmores. Hours later I get two IMs and a phone call about my roommate, saying that she applied to have her part of the quad as a single room, and told me I had no room. Grrrr.

I am currently in my third dorm in a different hall, and when I signed up there were two other people, so there was one spot open. Well, someone came as my roomie, and one of my quad mates changed. Well, my new quadmate, who signed up after me, asked if I would mind leaving so that her friend who was transferring could room with her. After being moved twice already, and the fact I was there first, I told her no. She's currently not in my dorm anymore.

So yeah, if anyone has any leftover easter eggs, mail it to the Oneonta residence life office. Preferably when it is rotted. ;)

3.) In retaliation to my last post, I'm switching my major. When I thought about it, I realized I wouldn't enjoy art as a career. So I'm sticking with it as a hobby, minoring in it and taking whatever classes I want, and changing to Computer Science as my major. I'm pretty excited, since I love math. This is funny though, because my 12th grade honors math teacher tried to convince me to go for a math degree. Guess I should email him and be like "Hey, guess what?!" ;P

Plus, I can work on whatever drawing, painting, or knitting project I want without thinking "I should really get to work on a portfolio..." or feeling guilty because of that thought.

4.) Mexican Train is seriously a wicked fun game. I want one. :)

5.) Our last day of Team Trivia was a couple Wednesdays ago. The grand prize this time wasn't a $25 gift card to Sbarro's like it usually is, but the "Trivia Master" was able to get tickets to the David Letterman show, and the winning team was guarenteed tickets and a free bus ride. Our team didn't win, but he also had extra tickets and a waiting list, and he drew out random names to give out the remaining tickets. So, Nessa, Michele and I are going on a free bus trip to Letterman!

Okay, so I don't watch it, but I'm excited. Free bus trip to NYC and tickets that take months to get? Sweet! :D

Uh, yeah, that's it for now.
